With his most recent project, Jinn Ki Shadi Unn Ki Shadi, a horror comedy that deviates from his typical dramatic roles, Wahaj Ali, star of Tere Bin, has taken a new turn in his career. He portrays Ali in the show, a struggling actor whose sincerity and tenacity propel the narrative. The project is a daring foray into a genre that isn’t often seen on Pakistani television.

Wahaj revealed in an interview with Khaleej Times that he now prioritizes performance driven narratives over large-scale productions. “Whether or not it’s a big banner project doesn’t really matter to me. Everyone believes that I should only work on those large projects after Tere Bin. However, portraying distinct, performance focused characters has always been my forte,” he stated.

The actor, 36, clarified that he looks for growth and diversity in each project. “I want to learn more and explore this craft every day because I love it. I wanted to use comedy to add something new and entertaining because people have seen me in serious roles,” he continued.

Shadi Jinn Ki, Starring Romaisa Khan, Sehar Khan, and Arslan Naseer, Unn Ki Shadi is a show on HUM TV that was written by Saima Akram Chaudhry and directed by Ali Faizan. Wahaj’s decision to go with a horror-comedy demonstrates his courage to take chances and deviate from the cliched subjects that predominate on Pakistani television.
