Lahore — A Lahore District and Sessions Court on Monday declared popular YouTuber Rajab Butt innocent in a high-profile rape case, with police confirming that the allegations against him were found to be baseless.

Additional Sessions Judge Syed Najaf Haider Kazmi presided over the hearing of an interim bail application filed by Rajab Butt and co-accused Salman Haider. Both appeared before the court alongside their legal counsel.

During the proceedings, the investigation officer submitted a report stating that Rajab Butt and two other individuals had been cleared of all charges during the course of the police investigation. The original case, filed at Lahore’s Nawab Town Police Station, was dismissed due to lack of evidence.

Following the police’s findings, Rajab Butt voluntarily withdrew his interim bail application, which the court then officially disposed of. However, the court extended the interim bail of Salman Haider until July 3, as investigations into his alleged involvement continue.

The case first came to light on June 10, when a female social media activist filed an FIR alleging rape, blackmail, and illegal confinement against five individuals, including YouTubers Rajab Butt and Maan Dogar.

According to the FIR, the complainant accused Salman Haider—identified as a cousin of Rajab Butt—of drugging and raping her, recording explicit videos, and blackmailing her. She further alleged that Rajab Butt locked her in a room at a property owned by Salman Butt, where she was held against her will. Other individuals, including Maan Dogar, were also reportedly present during the incident.

Despite the serious nature of the accusations, police concluded that no substantial evidence supported the claims against Rajab Butt and two others. The investigation into the role of Salman Haider, however, remains ongoing.
