For the first time in the pageant’s history, Palestine will be represented at the Miss Universe competition. Nadeen Ayoub, crowned Miss Palestine 2022, is set to take the global stage in Thailand on November 21.

The 27-year-old announced her participation through an Instagram video, wearing a traditional Palestinian thobe designed by Hiba Abdel Karim. The dress, embroidered with national colors and motifs, symbolized cultural pride and resilience.

“This is not just about me,” Ayoub said. “I walk the stage carrying the dreams of Palestinian girls, the dignity of our mothers, and the voice of a homeland that lives in our hearts.”

Her message resonated widely across social media, with users praising her for representing Palestine internationally. Comments ranged from “We need more such representation ❤” to “So proud of you Palestine 🇵🇸 always in my prayers ❤.”

Ayoub is no stranger to the spotlight. She was previously crowned Miss Earth 2022 in the Philippines and has built a reputation as a global ambassador. Beyond pageantry, she works as a nutrition and health coach, entrepreneur, and co-founder of the Olive Green Academy in Dubai, which focuses on sustainability through artificial intelligence. Her humanitarian efforts include environmental advocacy, supporting children with disabilities, and assisting abused families.

Her Miss Universe debut comes at a time of immense suffering for Palestinians. Since October 2023, Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has killed over 61,000 Palestinians and injured more than 151,000, with women and children forming the majority of victims.

Nearly 80 percent of Gaza’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, leaving millions displaced. The healthcare system remains in collapse, with only half of the hospitals operational and many doctors forced to perform surgeries without supplies or anesthesia.

Aid workers, journalists, and civilians have been killed in unprecedented numbers, while starvation continues to claim lives—240 people, including 107 children, have already died from hunger, according to Al Jazeera.

Amid this devastation, Ayoub’s participation at Miss Universe stands as a symbol of resilience. For many, her presence on the global stage is more than a beauty contest—it is a cultural and political statement that Palestine endures, resists, and continues to be represented.
