Karachi: Pakistani actor Naeema Butt has ignited controversy on social media after posting a satirical video addressing the lack of acting roles offered to her in the local drama industry.
The Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum star, who is currently not appearing in any ongoing television serials, remains active on her verified Instagram account, where she frequently shares humorous and opinionated videos with her followers.
In her latest post, Butt responded to critics who allege she produces such content because she is no longer cast in dramas.
“Those who say I make these videos because I’m not getting work, tell me, who would want to work in an industry where actresses are found dead?” she said in the video, before adding, “Meet my pet dog, at least he’s loyal.”
The remarks were widely perceived as a pointed criticism of Pakistan’s entertainment industry, sparking divided reactions online. Supporters praised her candour and boldness, while detractors accused her of painting the entire showbiz sector in a negative light.
Some critics labelled her video “toxic” and “jealous,” claiming she harboured a “negative mindset.”
Despite the backlash, Naeema Butt has not removed the video and continues to engage with her followers in the comments, indicating she stands by her statements.
