Veteran TV actor and producer Nabeel Zafar has expressed deep concern over the country’s economic challenges, saying that increasing electricity charges are putting citizens under extreme pressure.
Speaking during a recent talk show appearance, Zafar pointed out that monthly utility bills have grown so heavy that even glancing at them could trigger emotional or physical distress. He said the level of inflation has reached a stage where it is no longer sustainable for the public.
He shared how, in his own household, he often switches off extra appliances and lights, joking that he has started sounding like his late father. This humorous observation, he said, reflects the seriousness of the situation as more people become cautious about consumption.

The actor also opened up about the emotional weight of losing his parents. He said he now truly understands what it means to lose a loved one, admitting that the grief only becomes real when it is personally experienced. The bond he shared with his mother grew stronger after the loss of his father, a period that shaped much of his adult life.
In response to rising energy costs, Zafar has turned to solar power. While the system helps reduce dependency on electricity providers, he said it struggles during cloudy days in Karachi. He joked that he often finds himself pleading with the clouds to either rain or go away so that his solar panels can function properly.
