Meta has launched its Teen Accounts service for Facebook and Messenger users in Pakistan, strengthening the safeguards that were previously in place on Instagram. The function is intended to provide teens with a safer and more age-appropriate experience, while simultaneously addressing parental worries about internet safety.

Teen Accounts automatically limit who adolescents may contact with, block out dangerous or risky information, and provide tools for managing screen time. New users under the age of 18 will be automatically assigned to Teen Accounts, while current teenage users will be migrated gradually.
According to Meta, these safeguards prioritize concerns that are most important to parents, such as minimizing exposure to predators and hazardous content.
Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, emphasized that the idea is to allow kids to interact with friends and pursue their hobbies while maintaining a secure atmosphere.

The technique was initially tried on Instagram last year, with constraints such as time limits for going Live and tougher controls on direct messaging. Its launch to Facebook and Messenger in Pakistan is part of a worldwide rollout that will reach millions of youngsters across the world.
