New York is preparing for the 2025 Met Gala, set to take place on Monday, bringing together a glittering lineup of stars from fashion, film, music and sport. Known as the most prestigious night in global fashion, the annual event raises vital funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.
This year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” focuses on the influence of Black fashion and dandyism, inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion. It marks the first time in over 20 years that the event centres exclusively on menswear. The dress code, “Tailored for You,” highlights sharp suiting and personal style.
Organisers say the exhibition traces the history and cultural significance of Black style from the 18th century to the present, celebrating its impact through the lens of fashion.

Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, and LeBron James will serve as co-chairs alongside long-time overseer and Vogue editor Anna Wintour. A diverse host committee featuring names like Usher, Simone Biles, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and Janelle Monáe underlines the evening’s focus on Black excellence and creativity.
The invite-only event will see around 450 guests walking the iconic steps of the Met. With individual tickets reportedly priced at $75,000 and tables going for as much as $350,000, proceeds go directly to supporting the Costume Institute’s work.
As always, the guest list remains under wraps, but a heavy A-list turnout is expected. While the dinner remains closed to cameras, fashion fans around the world will be able to watch the red carpet via live streams hosted by Vogue and major media outlets.
The 2025 Met Gala begins Monday evening at 6 p.m. EST.
