The Sindh High Court has decided to refer the bail application of Sahir Hasan, the son of renowned actor Sajid Hasan, to a regular bench for further consideration in his drug possession case. The constitutional bench, which initially heard the bail plea, determined that the matter falls within the jurisdiction of a regular court.

The hearing has been adjourned, with instructions for the relevant bench to finalise the case within the next 14 days. Sahir Hasan, who is currently under judicial remand, was arrested on February 22 in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase 6 of Karachi. The police allege that they found five packets of cannabis in his possession.

Hasan’s lawyer argued that the charges are related to the possession of narcotics, and thus, the bail request should be considered accordingly. The court has directed that necessary measures be taken to ensure the swift processing of the case. The decision regarding Hasan’s bail now lies with the regular bench, which will determine the next steps.

In a controversial development, Hasan reportedly told investigators that his acquaintance, Armaghan, had accumulated significant wealth through fraudulent activities. According to Hasan, Armaghan had operated call center scams targeting pension funds of elderly individuals abroad.

The stolen money, Hasan claimed, was used to buy luxury cars, real estate, firearms, and even exotic animals. The case has ignited widespread public backlash, with TV host Nadia Khan criticizing Hasan on her talk show.

Khan expressed her outrage over his alleged involvement in drug trafficking, saying,

“He claims he doesn’t want his own children using drugs, yet has no qualms about selling to other people’s children. That’s blatant hypocrisy.”

Khan further emphasised,

“This case is not just about one person; it’s part of a disturbing pattern that affects families across Pakistan.”
