The funeral was attended by a large number of admirers and industry colleagues, including prominent figures such as Sohail Ahmed (Azizi), Naseem Vicky, Afzal Khan (Jan Rambo), Naveed Anjum, and Kashif Mehmood. Many paid heartfelt tributes to the late artist and offered condolences to his sons, Salman and Tayyab.

With a career that began in 1981 with the stage play Sode Baaz, Kodu went on to feature in over 150 Punjabi and Urdu films, alongside numerous theatre performances. He gained national fame with his role in the iconic TV drama Ashiyana, earning a place in the hearts of millions.

Born with dwarfism, Javed Kodu transformed personal challenges into a compelling comic persona that resonated deeply with audiences. His stage name “Kodu” was affectionately given by the legendary Akhtar Hussain Albela, a name that would later symbolize joy, resilience, and dignity.

Despite facing societal prejudice and mockery, both on and off stage, Kodu remained steadfast in his mission to bring laughter to others. In emotional interviews on programs like Zabardast and Mazaq Raat, he candidly spoke about the discrimination he endured. One painful memory involved being pelted with stones in his youth due to his height.

Tributes poured in from across the country, including from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who called Kodu “a man of short stature but towering talent.” Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also expressed her sorrow, commending his unforgettable contributions to Pakistani entertainment.
