The couple exchanged rings Friday on the serene island of San Giorgio Maggiore, in a ceremony rich with symbolism, style, and global celebrity presence. Sanchez, 55, dazzled in a high-neck Dolce & Gabbana gown inspired by Sophia Loren’s film Houseboat (1958), complete with a lace veil and borrowed diamond earrings. Bezos, 61, opted for a classic black tuxedo.
Though symbolic in Italy, the ceremony likely followed a legal union already completed in the U.S., sources revealed.
The guest list included elites from politics, fashion, tech, and entertainment — among them Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, Queen Rania of Jordan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Brady, Kim Kardashian, Ivanka Trump, and Jared Kushner. Celebrations began Thursday at Madonna dell’Orto church and concluded Saturday night at the Arsenale, Venice’s historic shipyard.
Despite the festive aura, the celebration sparked protests from local activist group “No Space for Bezos,” criticizing the commercialization of Venice and demanding fair taxation from billionaires. Banners and marches were seen across the city.
Meanwhile, the mayor of Venice defended the event, praising Bezos’s €3 million donation to local institutions and calling him “more Venetian than the protesters.”
According to the Italian tourism ministry, the event’s economic impact is estimated at €957 million ($1.12 billion), mostly driven by media exposure and tourism.
The couple, who got engaged in 2023 after Bezos’s 25-year marriage ended, arrived by helicopter and took residence at the ultra-luxurious Aman Hotel, where rooms start at €4,000 per night.
As Venice glittered under a billionaire spotlight, Bezos and Sanchez’s union marked not just a celebration of love — but a fusion of wealth, power, and spectacle on the global stage.
