Actress, writer, and television host Javeria Saud has stirred controversy after defending a wazifa (spiritual prayer) shared by Maulana Azad Jamil on her Ramadan transmission show. The wazifa suggests that writing “Zam Zam” with a finger on an electricity meter can help reduce electricity bills, a claim that has since gone viral, sparking intense debate across social media platforms.

In a widely circulated video, Javeria Saud expressed her views on the matter, stating that while she cannot guarantee its effectiveness, she believes that if performed with true faith (aqeedat), it might work. However, the statement has divided public opinion, with many critics accusing her of promoting superstition.

Some social media users ridiculed the practice, arguing that energy consumption and billing are based on tangible usage rather than spiritual interventions.

Despite the backlash, Saud remains firm in her stance, urging people to respect religious traditions and personal beliefs. Meanwhile, the debate continues to gain traction, with supporters defending the cultural significance of spiritual practices and skeptics calling for rational, science-based solutions to electricity costs.
