A district and sessions court on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of Hassan Zahid in the Samiya Hijab abduction case.

Following the decision, police arrested Zahid in a separate case involving threats and cash snatching and obtained a two-day physical remand from the court. Investigators told the court that further arrests could be made on Zahid’s identification.
Samiya Hijab, a social media influencer with nearly 850,000 Instagram followers, has accused Zahid of months of harassment and threats. In a video messageIslamabad Court Delivers Twist in Samiya Hijab Case, she claimed he appeared outside her residence, grabbed her phone, and tried to force her into his car while her family members were away.

The prosecutor informed the court that Rs45,000 had been recovered from the suspect, while his vehicle, weapons, and accomplices were still to be traced. The defense counsel argued that Zahid and Samiya had been engaged and presented photographs, but the court dismissed the bail plea and allowed the investigation to continue.
