Hania Aamir, an actress, has been named UN Women Pakistan’s National Goodwill Ambassador. Hania, who is well-known on social media, will use her position to encourage young girls nationwide and advance gender equality.

“Hania will help raise awareness and encourage action toward a society free from violence, discrimination, and inequality,” the UN Pakistan office said in an announcement. In addition to Muniba Mazari, Farhan Akhtar, Sania Mirza, Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Shehzad Roy, and Saba Qamar, she now becomes one of the prominent UN goodwill ambassadors.
This makes Hania the second Pakistani to receive this title from UN Women, following Muniba Mazari’s appointment in 2015. While some social media users questioned her selection, others praised the decision, calling her a positive representative of Pakistan on the global stage.
