Pakistani director Syed Noor has disclosed that his relationship with actress Saima began during the making of the hit film Ghunghat.
Speaking in an interview, Noor described how unexpected casting twists not only gave the film its iconic leads but also shaped his personal destiny.
The director revealed that Noman Ijaz was first selected for the male lead but later backed out. Shaan was brought in as a replacement, though buyers resisted the decision. “They even demanded refunds,” Noor recalled, adding that he convinced them to trust Shaan’s abilities.

Similarly, actress Neeli was supposed to play the female protagonist but opted out, leaving the door open for Saima. Noor admitted that during filming, he developed feelings for her.
Released in the 1990s, Ghunghat became a box office hit, solidifying Shaan and Saima’s standing in the industry. It also marked the beginning of Noor’s relationship with Saima, which later turned into marriage.
Noor was previously married to Rukhsana Noor, a respected writer and journalist. After her passing, Noor’s marriage with Saima added a new dimension to his personal and professional journey.
