The Islamabad High Court has begun considering a petition to outlaw Lazawal Ishq, Pakistan’s first dating show, which detractors claim encourages immorality and profanity. The Amaan Taraqqi Party filed the petition, arguing that the YouTube based program violates Pakistani social and cultural norms.

The federal government, PEMRA, PTA, and other authorities have received notices from Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir requesting their responses. Additionally, the petitioner requested that the court review such online content with the Council of Islamic Ideology.
The show, hosted by actor Ayesha Omar, is inspired by Love Island and features contestants living together in a villa while forming romantic relationships on camera. Since its teaser was released, it has stirred strong reactions, dividing viewers between those who see it as a bold move and those who call it inappropriate.

Amid public backlash, Ayesha Omar clarified that Lazawal Ishq should not be considered a dating show. The court is set to continue the hearing on November 20.
