Bollywood veteran Sunny Deol expresses admiration for South Indian cinema, sparking speculation about his future in the film industry.
Sunny Deol, one of Bollywood’s most celebrated action stars, has hinted at a possible shift to South Indian cinema, following in the footsteps of Aamir Khan. Speaking at a promotional event for his upcoming film Jaat, Deol openly praised the South Indian film industry for its strong storytelling and filmmaker-driven approach.
During his media interaction, Deol remarked, “The entire North has seen the power of this two-and-a-half-kilo hand; now the South will witness it too.” He emphasised that Bollywood producers should learn from the South Indian industry, referring to Hindi cinema as Bollywood rather than recognizing it as a unified Indian cinema.
The veteran actor highlighted key differences between the two industries, noting that South Indian filmmakers prioritize compelling narratives, place full trust in their directors, and dedicate themselves to realizing a director’s vision. “For them, the story itself is the hero. That’s why I truly enjoyed working with them,” he added.
Deol further revealed that he has urged the producer of Jaat to collaborate on another project, hinting at a possible long-term association with South Indian cinema. “I may leave Bollywood in the future and become a part of the South Indian film industry,” he stated.
