Ban Eased: Pakistani Dramas Return, Hania Still Blocked

India has lifted its ban on several Pakistani YouTube channels and celebrity social media accounts, restoring digital access for millions of Indian users who follow Pakistani entertainment content.

The ban, imposed in the aftermath of the Pahalgam incident in Indian-occupied Kashmir, had affected a wide range of Pakistani content creators, film promotions, and drama serials. Major stars like Fawad Khan, Hania Aamir, and others saw their content restricted in India, including bans on the release of their films and visibility of their social media posts.

Despite the blockade, Hania Aamir’s recent film achieved global success, even though it was not screened in India. Popular Pakistani dramas such as Sher, Mun Mast Malang, Dayan, and Parwarish continued to garner significant online viewership in India through indirect channels.

Now that the restrictions have been lifted, Indian audiences have taken to social media to express their joy. “Finally, my timeline is filled with Yumna Zaidi and Danish Taimoor again,” one user tweeted. Another commented, “The ban might have blocked the content, but not our love for Pakistani dramas.”

Access to the official accounts of Danish Taimoor, Mawra Hocane, Yumna Zaidi, and Ahad Raza Mir has reportedly been restored, with their posts once again appearing on Indian timelines.

However, some restrictions still remain. High-profile stars including Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Wahaj Ali, Iqra Aziz, Farhan Saeed, and Hania Aamir remain blocked on certain Indian networks, suggesting that the lifting of the ban is partial or still in process.

Fans speculate that this renewed digital connection may have been influenced by Diljit Dosanjh, whose pro-peace and cross-border cultural stances have earned admiration in both countries. “First Diljit took a stand, now the doors are opening again,” a fan wrote.

While there’s been no official statement from the Indian government regarding the change, the return of Pakistani content on Indian social media is being hailed as a soft cultural reset and a potential step towards regional artistic collaboration.
