The episode began when Fawad Chaudhry reacted to a directive from Indian Home Minister Amit Shah, asking all Pakistani citizens residing in India to leave the country by April 27. Medical visa holders were granted an extended deadline of April 29.

Commenting on the situation, Fawad questioned on social media, “What about Adnan Sami?”

Adnan Sami swiftly responded, launching a sharp rebuttal by calling Fawad Chaudhry an

“illiterate idiot,” and firmly reminding him that he had acquired Indian citizenship in 2016 after an 18-year-long process.

The exchange further escalated when Fawad Chaudhry incorrectly stated that Sami hailed from Lahore. Adnan Sami was quick to correct him, tweeting,

“My roots are from Peshawar, not Lahore!!

To think that you were Minister of (Mis) Information and have no knowledge of any information… And you were Minister of Science?”
