Mumbai: Bollywood icon Aamir Khan has revealed that Pakistan cricket legend Javed Miandad’s famous last-ball six in 1986 “ruined” what was supposed to be one of the happiest days of his life — his wedding day.

In a recent interview, the Lagaan star shared a nostalgic and humorous memory about his secret wedding to Reena Dutta and how it coincided with one of the most dramatic moments in India-Pakistan cricket history.

“I was so happy when India was about to win, but Miandad’s six turned my wedding day into a sad memory,”

Amir Khan recalled, referring to the April 10, 1986, Sharjah match in which Miandad hit a last-ball six off Indian bowler Chetan Sharma to clinch a dramatic victory for Pakistan.

Aamir said he and Reena had married in secret at the age of 21, without the knowledge or approval of their families.

“When we came back home after the wedding, everyone was glued to the TV watching the India-Pakistan match. No one even noticed we had left,” he added.

He recounted the pain of watching India’s narrow loss just as he hoped to enjoy his big day:

“India was so close to winning — I could already feel the joy — but that six broke my heart.”

The actor also shared a light-hearted moment about eventually meeting Miandad on a flight years later.

“I told him, ‘Javed Bhai, you ruined my wedding day. That six turned my happiest day into disappointment.’”

The legendary match remains one of the most talked-about moments in India-Pakistan cricket rivalry, while Aamir’s story adds a personal and humorous layer to the lasting impact of that six.
