Mumbai: Bollywood megastar Salman Khan is reportedly set to earn a staggering Rs120 crore to Rs150 crore for hosting the initial phase of Bigg Boss 19, which premieres on August 30. The upcoming season of the long-running and often controversial reality show will debut with a hybrid digital-TV format, airing first on JioCinema and later on Colors TV with a 90-minute delay.

Salman, who has been the face of Bigg Boss for more than a decade, is expected to host the first 15 weeks of the five-month-long season. His weekly remuneration is estimated between Rs8 crore to Rs10 crore, making this one of the most lucrative deals in Indian television history.

The new format blends OTT and traditional television, marking a shift in how Bigg Boss reaches its audience. According to sources, Khan filmed the promotional teaser for the show on July 21, in a marathon shoot that lasted from 2pm to midnight. The teaser reportedly has a political theme, hinting at a season rich in satire and social commentary rather than the typical melodrama and celebrity clashes.

While Salman Khan will host the first three months, producers are reportedly in talks with other top Bollywood personalities, including Karan Johar, Anil Kapoor, and Farah Khan, to take over hosting duties for the remaining weeks. This marks a significant departure from past seasons, possibly aimed at bringing fresh energy to the extended format.

Salman Khan’s paycheck reflects his drawing power. He reportedly earned Rs200 crore for Season 17 and Rs250 crore for Season 18. The revised structure this year considers the expanded format and dual-platform release.
