In an effort to reform the medical college admissions process, the Sindh Cabinet has appointed IBA Sukkur to conduct the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT).
This decision follows widespread concerns about last year’s MDCAT exam, which faced allegations of mismanagement and irregularities. The move is aimed at restoring trust in the process and ensuring merit-based admissions.
The new policy will apply uniformly across both government and private medical and dental colleges, with oversight provided by the Sindh Department of Health.
According to official figures, there are a total of 2,550 MBBS and 500 BDS seats in government colleges, while private colleges offer 1,441 MBBS and 2,025 dental seats.
The Sindh government hopes that involving a credible academic institution like IBA Sukkur will bring greater transparency and credibility to the exam system.
The cabinet, under Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, has also reaffirmed its commitment to educational reforms, especially in critical sectors like healthcare.
