The Punjab Higher Education Department has initiated disciplinary proceedings against a number of teachers accused of making serious marking errors in Matric and Intermediate exams.
According to official sources, the names of these teachers have been forwarded to the School Education Department for further action. Show-cause notices were first issued on July 9, but many of the accused teachers failed to attend the scheduled inquiry sessions.
In response to their absence, the Director of Public Instruction (Elementary) in Punjab has issued fresh notices, requiring the teachers to appear before the inquiry committee today with a written explanation. Attendance has now been made compulsory.
