Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has said that outsourcing government schools may become unavoidable if educational standards do not improve. He made the remarks while addressing district education officers from Lahore Division on Tuesday.

The minister pointed out that schools already outsourced in some areas had shown better performance and stronger academic results. He called for urgent reforms, stating that the education system could no longer operate under corruption, negligence, and absenteeism.

He stressed that Lahore, being the flagship district, must lead efforts to improve government schools and restore public trust. His vision includes having at least 100 government schools in every district with waiting lists for admission.

To support these goals, Rana Sikandar Hayat announced that all schools in Lahore would receive their pending funds within two weeks. He also promised immediate action to fix resource gaps, pledging open access to his office for support.

He directed that computer and science labs be made functional and urged a focus on STEM education at the higher secondary level. A reward system for top-performing teachers, students, and schools is also in development.

He added that teachers will be relieved from non-teaching duties to concentrate solely on classroom learning.
