Punjab University has decided to shut down all 27 of its hostels during the upcoming summer vacation, with stricter rules in place for students seeking to stay. According to an official notification, hostels will remain closed from June 6 to August 27.

Unlike previous years, when students could stay with limited restrictions, this year only international students will be permitted to remain on campus. Final semester students working on their theses must seek formal permission to stay in the hostels. Additionally, university departments continuing academic or research work must apply for approval if their students require accommodation.

University officials said the policy aims to improve maintenance and security during the summer period. The stricter measures suggest a shift in focus toward ensuring hostels are properly managed while vacant.

The administration has advised students to make alternate living arrangements and follow the updated guidelines. Those who fail to comply may face disciplinary action.

This decision reflects a broader effort by the university to streamline its hostel operations during the break, while still supporting students with valid academic needs.
