The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has released the summer vacation timetable for all public and private schools in the province, as high temperatures continue to grip several regions of Pakistan.

As per a notification from the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, schools in most districts of KP will observe summer holidays from June 15 to August 31.

In contrast, schools in the province’s upper districts—where the climate remains comparatively cooler—will be closed from July 1 to July 31.

The circular clarified that the vacation schedule applies to all institutions operating under the provincial education department, including both government and privately run schools.

The announcement follows similar steps taken in Punjab, where the School Education Department has already issued a summer break notice.

Afternoon shift schools in Punjab began their holidays on May 25, while other schools started their break from May 28.

All educational institutions in the province are expected to reopen on August 15, depending on weather conditions at the time.

The extended closures come amid a severe heatwave affecting much of the country.

With rising concerns over student safety, education officials have responded to increasing demands from parents and school administrators to protect children from heat-related health risks during the peak summer months.
