Persistent rainfall over two days submerged key arteries of the city, pushing up water levels in Malir and Lyari rivers and flooding residential neighborhoods. Daily life across Karachi slowed to a crawl, with transport and access to schools severely affected.
The Sindh government had ordered the closure of schools, colleges, and other institutions on Wednesday, citing forecasts by the Pakistan Meteorological Department of further downpours and thunderstorms.
Although Thursday’s reopening restores some sense of routine, students, parents, and teachers remain concerned about further weather disruptions.
