The International College for Legal Studies (ICLS) achieved a historic milestone in legal education with the formal inauguration of its new purpose-built campus on November 18, 2025, located on Main Kamahan Road, opposite DHA Phase V Extension, Lahore.
The vision and tireless efforts behind this significant expansion were led by the CEO and Dean of the International College for Legal Studies, Sarah Tarar, along with the core leadership team, whose commitment to promoting legal education in Pakistan laid the foundation for the establishment of the new campus.
The auspicious ceremony was graced by Minister of State Barrister Aqeel Malik as the chief guest. He was accompanied by the Dean of Undergraduate Law, University of London, Ms. Patricia McKellar, who attended the event as the guest of honour to celebrate this important expansion of Pakistan’s legal education infrastructure.
On the occasion, the University of London’s Regional Adviser for South Asia, Mr. Saad Waseem, Director of the Directorate of Legal Education, Pakistan Bar Council, Mr. Usama Malik, and British Council’s Ben Lawton delivered encouraging messages for the future success of the International College for Legal Studies.
The ceremony commenced with the traditional ribbon-cutting, marking the opening of a modern facility designed to promote academic excellence and provide practical legal training.
The new campus features state-of-the-art lecture halls, dedicated moot courts, and extensive research libraries, reflecting ICLS’s commitment to delivering education in line with international standards.
In his keynote address, Barrister Aqeel Malik appreciated the college administration for investing in the future of Pakistan’s legal sector. Ms. Patricia McKellar, representing the international academic community, highlighted the institution’s global standards. During the ceremony, Ms. McKellar, along with Barrister Aqeel Malik, came on stage to distribute degrees among graduating students.
A special highlight of the evening was the presentation of awards to students who demonstrated outstanding performance and were included in the Dean’s Honour List, recognizing their exceptional achievements in undergraduate law degrees. On this occasion, a student, Amina Siddiqui, was also awarded the prestigious Bridged Cotter Prize for being one of only four students worldwide to demonstrate exceptional performance at the global level.
The ceremony also highlighted the significance of ICLS’s academic programmes. The college is a recognized teaching centre for the University of London’s LLB (Hons) programme, renowned for its rigorous standards in legal theory and practical training.
Students also benefit from programmes such as the Certificate of Higher Education in Common Law, which provides a structured pathway for admission into the full degree programme. In addition, ICLS supports candidates preparing for the Bar Transfer Test, enabling legal professionals to meet international standards and enhance their career prospects.
