The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has issued a public warning against rising incidents of online scams involving fake websites and impersonation of official departments.

In a post shared on social media platform X, the commission alerted citizens that fraudsters are pretending to be HEC representatives to extract sensitive personal and financial information. The HEC stressed that it never asks individuals for one-time passwords (OTPs), login credentials, or bank account details.

A short awareness video released by the commission clarified that HEC officials do not contact individuals for payment attestations or request confidential information under any circumstance. Citizens were strongly urged to stay cautious of such fraudulent activities.

The HEC emphasized that it operates only one official website, where all genuine information and services are available. It advised users to verify any suspicious communication and avoid clicking on unverified links or sharing data through unofficial platforms.
