The Sindh government has extended the deadline for mandatory biometric verification of vehicle registrations and ownership transfers until August 14. The announcement was made on Thursday through an official notification issued by the Sindh Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department.
This biometric policy, introduced in September 2024, is aimed at increasing transparency and curbing fraudulent transfers. It requires authentication through the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for all vehicle-related transactions, including new registrations and ownership changes.
Sindh’s Senior Minister for Information, Transport, Excise, and Narcotics Control, Sharjeel Memon, shared that the verification process is being implemented in three phases. The first phase, which began on July 1, 2024, made biometric checks mandatory for new vehicle registrations. The second phase, starting November 1, 2024, covered vehicle buyers, while the third phase will apply to both buyers and sellers during ownership transfers.

Minister Memon said the initiative is part of Sindh’s broader plan to digitise public services and protect citizens from vehicle fraud. He stressed that biometric verification would help confirm the identities of all parties involved in a transaction.
Vehicle owners can complete the verification at any NADRA e-Facilitation Centre or district excise office. The extended deadline is intended to give citizens additional time to comply without facing disruption in vehicle procedures.
