Punjab Budget 2025: Allocation Breakdown for Key Sectors

The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, is expected to present the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2025–26 today at 2 pm. The budget places strong emphasis on development, particularly in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and governance.

According to official documents, the total development budget is proposed at Rs1,240 billion. Urban development receives the largest share, with Rs145 billion earmarked for city planning and related projects. The Local Government and Community Development sector is expected to get Rs142 billion, followed by Rs120 billion for road infrastructure.

The School Education Department is likely to receive Rs100 billion, reaffirming the government’s focus on improving basic education. Health and population welfare have been allocated Rs90 billion combined, while another Rs95 billion is proposed for specialized healthcare and medical education.

Rural development and agriculture will get Rs80 billion, and Rs85 billion has been set aside for the transport sector, including environmentally friendly electric transport and major public transport projects like the Canal Road Train in Lahore and Gujranwala Metrobus.

Other significant allocations include Rs40 billion each for governance, IT, and irrigation, while Rs25 billion is designated for the construction and repair of public buildings.
