Electricity bill

The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has suspended its installment facility for electricity bills in an effort to meet its revenue recovery targets for June. The company has instructed field staff to disconnect power connections of consumers who fail to pay their current bills or have outstanding dues.

According to internal directives, all categories of consumers — residential, commercial, and industrial — must pay the full amount of their electricity bills without requesting payment in parts. The move is aimed at ensuring the timely collection of payments to meet financial goals set for the current fiscal cycle.

LESCO had previously allowed customers to pay their dues through installments to ease financial pressure. However, this temporary relief has now been withdrawn, with a clear focus on stricter enforcement of bill payments.

Officials have confirmed that disconnections will begin for accounts with unpaid bills, and no exemptions will be granted under the current policy. While some flexibility remains in terms of extending bill due dates as per NEPRA guidelines, any delay beyond those dates will result in suspension of power supply.

The decision has raised concerns among consumers, especially amid ongoing inflation and economic strain. However, company representatives argue that the action is necessary to maintain operational stability and ensure consistent service.
