The Islamabad district administration has fixed the retail price of refined sugar at Rs177 per kilogram, effective September 15, 2025. The move comes after consultation with wholesale sugar dealers and in line with directives from the Ministry of National Food Security and Research.
Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Irfan Nawaz Memon announced the new prices under the Price Control and Prevention of Profiteering and Hoarding Act, 1977. The ex-mill price has been set at Rs169 per kilogram.
The order applies across the territorial limits of Islamabad Capital Territory and will remain in force until further notice. It warns that violations will be dealt with strictly under relevant provisions of the Price Control Act and the West Pakistan Foodstuffs (Control) Act, 1958.

To ensure enforcement, copies of the order are being displayed at the offices of the District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, and all police stations. The decision will also be publicized through the official gazette, local newspapers, and other media platforms.
The office of the District Magistrate has circulated the order to key authorities, including the Chief Commissioner of ICT, the Inspector General of Police, senior police officials, the Food Department, and the Chairman Market Committee.
Officials said the step is part of efforts to regulate sugar prices and protect consumers from profiteering. The administration has warned shopkeepers and traders of legal action if sugar is sold above the notified rate.
