The federal government has kept the price of petrol steady while slightly lowering the cost of high-speed diesel, according to a new notification issued for the fortnight beginning May 16.
As per the official announcement, the price of petrol remains unchanged at Rs252.63 per litre. However, the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs2, bringing it down to Rs254.64 per litre.

This adjustment follows a similar move earlier this month when the government had reduced the prices of both petrol and diesel by Rs2 per litre. The finance ministry had then issued a notification reflecting the changes, aimed at easing inflationary pressure on consumers.
The latest revision comes as part of the routine fortnightly price review, which takes global oil trends and currency exchange rates into account. While the petrol price has been maintained, the slight cut in diesel rates may provide some relief to the transport and agriculture sectors, where diesel is used more widely.
