NEPRA has approved a tariff cut of Rs1.89 per unit for the second quarter of 2025. The reduction will be effective from August to October and will apply to all DISCOs, including K-Electric.

The new rates are expected to provide a total relief of nearly Rs56 billion to consumers, easing financial pressure amid rising living costs. However, lifeline consumers and prepaid meter users are not included in this tariff reduction.

In addition to the quarterly cut, NEPRA has also lowered electricity prices by 78 paisa per unit under the June fuel adjustment. This will benefit all users except those under K-Electric.

The changes were proposed during a recent public hearing, where several power companies sought adjustments due to shifting fuel costs. After evaluating the data, NEPRA approved the cut and has sent the decision to the federal government for notification.
