The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has urged taxpayers to file their income tax returns by September 30, warning that no extensions will be granted beyond the deadline.
Officials stressed that individuals and businesses must submit accurate declarations to avoid penalties. In a public advisory, the revenue authority appealed for honesty. “Submit your income tax correctly and truthfully,” the FBR said.
To encourage compliance, a simplified return form has been introduced this year, aimed at making the process easier and reducing complexities for filers.
Authorities have intensified their crackdown on tax evasion across multiple sectors. Notices have been issued to jewellers in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Multan, where officials say a vast majority remain outside the tax system.

Out of 57,000 people linked to the trade, only 20,000 are registered, and fewer than 10,000 have filed returns. In Islamabad alone, at least 50 jewellers in one market were found unregistered.
The FBR has also shifted its focus toward wealthy individuals flaunting luxury lifestyles on social media.
Data has been gathered on 100,000 users showcasing expensive homes, luxury cars, jewellery, and lavish weddings. Officials warned that those failing to update their tax records could face strict legal action.
