The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted a request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) for a 19 paisa per unit tariff increase under monthly adjustment.
Nepra will review this request during a scheduled hearing on September 29, and if approved, the tariff hike will be reflected in the electricity bills for the month of October.
The adjustment applies to August 2025 under government policy guidelines, which allow monthly revisions to ensure cost recovery for power companies and maintain financial stability in the energy sector.

Last week, Nepra announced monthly adjustments for June and July, which provided temporary relief of Rs2.57 per unit to electricity consumers across different distribution companies.
For July, most consumers experienced an adjustment of Rs1.79 per unit, which is currently being reflected in electricity bills issued during September across the country.
The new request once again highlights the persistent financial challenges faced by power consumers, who are already under pressure due to high inflation and rising energy costs.
