An earthquake of 3.3 magnitude was felt across Perthshire early Monday morning, giving residents a brief but surprising shake.
The British Geological Survey (BGS) said the quake happened around 07:25 a.m. , with its epicentre in Pubil, Glen Lyon, at a depth of about 3 kilometres (1.9 miles). Though small in scale, the tremor was strong enough to be noticed in nearby towns.
People living in Callander, Tyndrum, and Grandtully said they both heard and felt the earthquake. Some described it as a short rumble, while others said it felt like a heavy vehicle passing by.
Experts explained that quakes of this size are not uncommon in the UK and usually cause no damage. Local authorities have reminded people that such minor tremors are normal and part of the region’s natural geological activity.
While the shake was brief, it certainly gave many Perthshire residents an unexpected start to their day a gentle reminder of the Earth’s quiet movements beneath their feet.
