Punjab has been placed on high alert as authorities respond to escalating terror threats across the province, Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar announced Monday.
Addressing an awards ceremony at the Central Police Office, Dr. Anwar said that Pakistan’s national security faces growing threats due to rising tensions with India, emphasizing that hostile forces may attempt to destabilize the region by launching attacks on sensitive infrastructure, Chinese residential compounds, and ongoing development projects.

“A defeated enemy can resort to desperate measures. As long as regional tensions persist, the threat of terrorism remains very real,” Dr. Anwar warned.
In light of these concerns, police units across the province—from Lahore to remote districts—have been put on high alert. Orders have been issued for an immediate review of security plans and deployment strategies to ensure swift preparedness in the face of any threat.
The Punjab Police, in close coordination with federal intelligence and security agencies, has already launched investigations and ramped up patrolling efforts around critical sites. Enhanced surveillance and rapid response protocols have also been activated to reinforce public safety and restore confidence among citizens.
