Following the premier’s instructions, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced the activation of a 24/7 Crisis Management Unit (CMU) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The CMU has been tasked with monitoring the situation closely and coordinating evacuation and support measures.

“The safety and well-being of our nationals abroad is our top priority,” said Dar. He added that the Pakistani Embassy in Tehran has been placed on high alert and instructed to provide full assistance and support to all Pakistani citizens and pilgrims.

A dedicated hotline has also been made operational for those seeking urgent help:

Foreign Office Advisory & Travel Warning

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, around 5,000 Pakistani Zaireens are currently present in Iran, although this number fluctuates due to the ongoing pilgrimage movement. A major challenge remains that many pilgrims do not remain in contact with diplomatic missions during their travels, complicating rescue and coordination efforts during emergencies.

Given the volatile security situation, the Foreign Office has advised all Pakistani citizens to reconsider travel plans to Iran and Iraq until further notice.

The Pakistani Embassy in Tehran and all consulates in Iran remain fully functional and are working in coordination with local authorities to ensure the security and return of nationals currently in the region.
