Imran Khan’s sister was injured on Tuesday after she fell near an under-construction sewerage line in Rawalpindi. The incident took place close to Dahgal Naka when she was on her way to Adiala Jail.
According to reports, Noreen, along with her sisters and other women, had arrived in the area to meet the PTI founder at the jail. However, police stopped their car near a checkpoint. After this, they tried to cross the area on foot.
While crossing the site, Noreen slipped and fell into an open excavation of the under-construction drain. She suffered injuries to her hands, feet, and nose. People present at the scene quickly rushed to help her. Rescue workers and bystanders pulled her out of the ditch and shifted her to a safer place.
Another woman who was accompanying her also fell during the incident and received injuries. Both women were given immediate assistance after being rescued.
The area near Dahgal Naka is currently under construction due to sewerage work. Locals say that the open digging has made movement difficult and risky for pedestrians.
The incident has raised concerns about safety measures at construction sites, especially in busy areas. Many people have demanded better arrangements to prevent such accidents in the future.
Fortunately, Noreen’s injuries were reported as not life-threatening. The situation, however, caused worry among supporters present in the area.
