Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has denied the allegations made by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regarding the mistreatment of imprisoned female party workers and supporters. He emphasized that the protection of incarcerated women is his responsibility and stated that incidents of mistreatment have never occurred in the history of prisons.

Addressing the media in Lahore, Naqvi revealed that out of the 32 women arrested following the riots on May 9, 11 are currently under the custody of the Punjab government. He urged those making accusations to think before making such claims, defending the government’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of all prisoners.

Naqvi reiterated that those involved in the attack on Jinnah House will face prosecution and punishment, regardless of their influence or status. He assured the public that any policeman found engaged in unethical behavior will also be held accountable.

Refuting the news of PTI Chief Imran Khan’s house arrest, Naqvi declared that there is no truth to such reports. His statement comes in response to Imran Khan’s plea to the apex court to take suo motu notice of alleged abuse, including rape, against his female party workers and supporters who were arrested following the riots.

Earlier, Interior Minister Rana Sanaulla had claimed that intelligence agencies intercepted a conversation suggesting that the PTI was planning two separate “dramatic” actions. Without providing further details, Sanaulla alleged that the intercepted communication indicated the PTI was planning an act of rape that would be blamed on law enforcement agencies.

In response to Sanaulla’s press conference, Imran Khan criticized the government, accusing it of attempting to hide the torture and harassment of women in prisons. He claimed that Sanaulla’s statements were an obvious cover-up to preempt forthcoming revelations in the media.

Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has rejected the PTI’s allegations of mistreatment of imprisoned female party workers and supporters. He has emphasized his commitment to protecting incarcerated women and ensuring their well-being. Naqvi also dismissed the news of Imran Khan’s house arrest. The situation remains tense as both parties exchange accusations and the nation waits for further developments.
