Pakistan Marks 78th Independence Day with Grand Parade

Pakistan celebrated its 78th Independence Day with a formal ceremony at Jinnah Sports Stadium, attended by top civil and military leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Gen Syed Asim Munir.

Federal ministers, parliamentarians, ambassadors, Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif were also present. Troops from the Pakistan Army, SSG Commandos, Navy, Air Force, Punjab Rangers, and FC Khyber Pakhtunkhwa staged a ceremonial march past, while Pakistan Air Force fighter jets performed an aerial salute, met with chants of “Long live Pakistan.”

Military contingents from Azerbaijan and Turkiye participated, showcasing their marching skills, while a combined military band from Pakistan’s armed forces performed patriotic tunes.

The ceremony, which included the national flag salute and anthem, also commemorated what officials described as a “great victory in the Marka-e-Haq.” The stadium was filled with a sea of green and white as citizens waved flags, capturing the spirit of unity and resilience. Leaders vowed to uphold the nation’s sovereignty, strengthen democracy, and work towards a prosperous and peaceful Pakistan.
